Description
The Gentle Maths Help Number Sense Program: Level 2
Build number sense that actually sticks — no worksheets of memorised facts, just hands-on thinking made visible.
Level 2 is the second stage of the Gentle Maths Help Number Sense Program: a dyscalculia-informed set of printables that helps children move from counting numbers to understanding how numbers relate to each other — up to 100.
If your child can count confidently to 20 but freezes at place value, skip counting, or “how many more to make ten?” — this bundle was built for exactly that stage.
💚 WHO THIS IS FOR
Parents supporting a child with dyscalculia or maths anxiety.
Homeschoolers who want a slow, concrete route into place value.
Tutors and intervention teachers who need visual, no-pressure practice.
Any child who has solid 1–20 quantity sense and is ready for numbers to 100.
📦 WHAT’S INCLUDED IN LEVEL 2 (10 activities + parent guide, 46 pages total)
Each activity includes 3 printable practice sheets.
Part-Part-Whole Mats — splitting numbers to 10 into parts that always make the same whole.
Missing Part Mats — finding the hidden part (the gentle first step into subtraction).
Ten Frame Count — seeing quantities in rows of five, without counting one by one.
Make Ten Match-Up — matching ten frames to their partner using the empty cells.
Skip Count Number Lines — filling in missing numbers counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
Count in Groups — skip counting real, visible groups of objects.
Read the Bundles — reading tens-and-ones bundles before any digits appear.
Circle Ten — circling a group of ten and recording tens and ones.
Estimation Jars — guessing against a known ten-jar anchor.
Ordering to 100 — placing numbers on a 0–100 scale by position, not just sequence.
+ 6-page Parent Guide covering the five big ideas of Level 2, “is my child ready?” checklists, at-home activities with everyday objects, and signs your child is ready for Level 3.
🧠 WHY IT WORKS
Every activity stays concrete before it goes symbolic. Children build and see quantities with real objects — grapes, buttons, sock pairs, egg cartons — before a single equation is written. This is deliberate: dyscalculia-informed practice means the physical stage isn’t rushed, so the number relationships have time to actually settle in.
The five big ideas covered:
Numbers can be split
Patterns help us count
Ten is a unit
Numbers sit on a scale
Estimation uses anchors
WHO MADE THIS?
I’m Kristy, a specialist educator based in Melbourne, Australia with over 20 years of experience supporting children with learning difficulties, dyscalculia, and neurodiverse profiles in one-to-one sessions. These printables are built on the same evidence-based approaches I use with my own students — not adapted from a generic maths curriculum.
No timed activities. No number facts under pressure. No shame.
🖨️ FORMAT
Instant digital download — nothing physical is shipped.
Standard A4 / Letter-friendly PDF, print at home or at a copy shop.
Each sheet is ready to print and use, no prep beyond a printer and a pencil.
Includes a Name/Date line on activity sheets for easy tracking.
📝 A NOTE ON PACE
There’s no timetable here. Short, calm 10-minute sessions beat long stressful ones — work through activities in any order, and repeat a sheet as many times as your child needs before moving on.
